I love this young lady!! I have watched  her create her brand and dominate in her field!! When I decide to do the Style N Beuaty Series, she was at the top of my list. I'm so glad she said yes, to share her story. I hope this interview inspires you.

Q. Tell us about Starlet Monee. How did you come with the name Hello Gorgeous and how did you get started?

A. Starlet Monee is a young, spunky, Cool, outgoing, and a very intelligent young woman, who had a burning desire to be more than a govt. employee, who took the leap only most people dream about and went after what God has in store for her. I got started as a MUA at the age of 25, and worked for Sephora, Ulta and my last stop MAC. Then I realized I don't want to sell make-up I want to do it and quit Mac to freelance and grow my business.  I happened to stumble upon eyelash extensions 4 years ago and decided to add it to my services and by doing so it allowed me to quit my job and run my business full time. I came up with the name Hello, Gorgeous! Beauty after 2 prior name changes, my two prior names didn't really fit my brand how I envisioned it. Hello, Gorgeous! beauty is the best ice breaker between women. let me explain "Hello," is the greeting "Gorgeous!" Is the compliment (what woman doesn't love to complimented), and "Beauty" is simply recognizing another woman's greatness within her. My brand is simply about building one another as women!

Q. What was the influence or the motivation behind creating your brand?

A. The motivation behind creating my brand is without sounding cliche "empowerment" I have never really experienced not making friends at my age, and it's because of my personality but for many of my friends they have expressed that they face that challenge. And one thing I know from my experience when a woman looks good, she feels good, and when two woman look and feel good, they are more likely to Greet, Compliment and empower one another. That's where Hello, Gorgeous! Beauty is there to be that tagline to break the barrier. In that I aspire to give woman the little things that can make them feel good through my services and products such as eyelash extension, Make-up application, soon to come eyebrow services. In addition to my health and wellness products,  hair and lash line. I'm about enhancing what's there naturally and not making them look completely different. While hoping that my brand empowers them from within but my services and products put the icing on the cake!

Q. How important is it to have a mentor?

A. I think it's very important to have a mentor, especially if you are someone like me. I am very extreme. I'm hot or cold there is no in between with me, lol... so, I need someone who I can talk with who has experienced some of the same challenges that I face or will face in the future. They help me see the logic in some of the most extreme cases or let me know when it's time level up. My mentors help me navigate through my blueprint while avoiding unnecessary risk. And your mentor does not always have to be face to face. I have a lot of mentors through YouTube, and audiobooks I believe mentors are usually the blueprint of the life you desire to achieve... I have a mentor in each area of my life who resembles how I envision my life in that particular area.

Q. Being that you are into beauty… How do you fell about the representation of how beauty is being portrayed?

A. Hmmmm, this question is based on experience and by what you give your attention too, by this I mean I see the standard of what the worlds says the standard is "European beauty" fair skin, blonde Straight hair, slim. but I also see men and woman who are breaking those stereotypes and redefining beauty. I'm loving the diversity I'm seeing. I do still think we have a long way to go, but we are going in a positive direction.

Q. What advice would you give to someone who wants pursue being a in the beauty business, whether there is make up, hair, etc?

A. Simple. Go for it....to be honest there is no magic pills or formulas just straight drive and determination. Be sure you have done your research in the area in which you plan to dominate. No matter how saturated you think a market is you bring something different and unique otherwise it wouldn't be your dream!

Q.What’s next for The Hello Gorgeous Brand.?

A. I was once was told don't show all your cards at once. Play smart! Just know in one year we have moved to a bigger and better location and started certifying other Lash techs. HG!B hair and lash line is doing well, and about to relaunch the brand in October.  Just make sure you're on the list to come experience this journey with us! It's going to be one dope ride.
