Interview with Celebrity Stylist Daniel Musto
I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel during New York Fashion Week earlier this year. I was able to chat it up with him about the fashion industry and also gain more knowledge about the business. Now if you don’t know who he is let me give just a little background.
Daniel is one of the most go to stylist in Hollywood. He had styled some of the hottest celebrities such as The Chrisley’s, Fantasia, Gabourey Sidibe, Neyo, Paula Abdul, and Jeannie Mai from The Real, just to name a few.
As you can see he is a very busy however I’m super excited that he took time out of his hectic schedule to do this interview. Once you read it you will definitely know why he is feature of the week.
Tell us about Daniel Musto. How did you get started in the fashion business?
I had just graduated from FIDM in 2003 when I joined Paula Abdul’s styling team. I was dressing her for American Idol and all things surrounding her attachment to television’s biggest show.
What was the influence or the motivation behind creating your brand?
I felt that no one else in the styling world was motivating people to dress themselves to feed their souls and their self esteem. I needed to step in and represent that category.
Being that you style almost like everyone… lol What would you say is your biggest challenge when styling a client?
As a stylist, you battle a lot of the self esteemissues that were engrained during childhood. It takes a lot of time and talent to remove those limitations.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to started their own business or brand?
I like to marry two or three brands to whom I feel I am most similar.
For example, I would say that I am Justin Timberlake meets Nate Berkus with a touch of TJMaxx.
What’s next forDaniel Musto?
I plan on having a combined tv and web presence that is accessible to the world daily or weekly so everyone who CRAVES Daniel can GET Daniel!
