I know that cleaning out your closet can be a little overwhelming, right?? Well don’t fear your Style Chic is here!!! LOL I think the number one challenge is; we try to detox our closet in one day, which can really stress you out... So I have put together a few tips that can take the pressure out of detoxing your closet and give you a very beautiful and organize closet in just 30 days...

1. Week 1 -Tops/Jackets-This includes cardigans, sweaters, high low and t-shirts. Now as I said before if you have not worn it in 6 months to a year. You should decide if you are going to give it away, sell it, or toss it.

2. Week 2 -Pants/Skirts-This includes, jeans, and shorts. (Same rule apply for week 1.) Now I will say this; when we start cleaning out our closet we, try to come up with so many reason why we should keep an item. You know good an well you didn’t even think about or forgot it was on your shelve. So eliminate the excuses and keep it moving…lol

3. Week 3- Dresses-This includes all the formal and evening gowns. I know the holiday is coming up and an you are going to get invited to a lot of holiday parties. However if you are not going to wear the same dress you did last year (which you probably won’t) go ahead and donate it or even better, maybe you can gift it to some beautiful girl who doesn’t have a prom dress to go to the prom or enter a pageant.

4. Week 4 -Shoes/Accessories- This includes bags/purses. Well, I Left this for last, because most of us love shoes and accessories, right?? Believe it or not this is item that we struggle with the most to get rid of. Especially if we saved up to get that designer bag or pair of shoes we always wanted. Let me share a quick story with you about my experience. I have saved up to get a Gucci bag that I have been wanting for quite some time. So I went to the Gucci store and bought it. Now once I got it, I was like I will use for special occasions only. However you already know I thing after having it for at least two years I used it maybe 2 times, if that… You know what I did, I sold it and because I bought it at the Gucci outlet, I was able to sell it for the price I purchase it for. SO I said all of that to say… Remember the 6 month to a year rule, ok…

5. Bonus-While you are getting rid of the items you don’t want, make sure you have your staple pieces, like your white shirt, black pants, LBD, etc. Next week I will go into more of what the major staple piece are and how to fill in the gaps once you have cleanse your closet.

I hope this will help and take the stress out of detoxing your closet. I would like to hear from you, and your experience. Make sure you comment below or hit me up on all my social media platforms.

Until next, keep styling!!!
