Q. What was the influence or the motivation behind creating your brand?
A. Gorgeous smile and sparkling personality is one way of describing this New Orleans, Louisiana native. In the presence of this charming southern bell, you definitely feel that southern hospitality shines through. As an experienced fashion and style professional, Monica’s passion and experience in bringing fantastic venues and beautiful people together to create sophisticated and spectacular events. She has worked in various fashion-related events including shopping parties, style events, fashion forums and trunk shows.
For me growing up with my Mom, Aunts and Grandmother – we often shopped at the local thrift stores, consignment boutiques or hit up estate sales on the weekend – that’s where fashion bargains are found!  From that vision as a child – I wanted to create a space where bargain shoppers could capture fashion in its true essence.
After graduating from Xavier University of Louisiana, I decided to visit my Uncle - who lived in DC at the time.  Came here for a visit and never left.

Q. I’ve been to your B.A.S.H events; I think it is awesome that you have created a venue that showcases others in business. Tell us about B.A.S.H, what does is stand for?

A. The brand was created initially as Fashionista Flea Market (FFM) is an outdoor open-air flea market bringing together fashionable women, bargain shoppers and fashionistas. With the success of FFM, we rebranded in 2015 with the same overall concept but added more elements such as the Beauty Chat, the Style Session and invited local bloggers and influencers as the host of the B.A.S.H. PopUp which stands for Beauty, Art, Style and Home PopUp and the rebranded name was born!
Beauty, Art, Style and Home PopUp experience is the ultimate PopUp bringing together girlfriends, bargain shoppers and fashionistas from all over!  Providing the ultimate (and simply unique) shopping experience to come out to see and buy amazing pieces from the closets of boutique owners, racks of accessories and shoes, tables of home decor, shelves of beauty products and displays of signature art - from the best in Beauty, Art, Style and Home influencers. The #BASHPopUp is the perfect destination for guests seeking the one-of-a-kind alternative shopping experience. Featuring signature brands and sponsors PLUS ...
* BLOGGERS + MEDIA INFLUENCERS* STYLE WORKSHOP FROM THE AREA'S BEST STYLIST* MUSIC BY THE HOTTEST FEMALE DJ * BEAUTY 101 CHAT BY A SIGNATURE BEAUTY HOUSE* GLAM BEAUTY BAGS* FREE FOR ATTENDEES/OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Q. What advice would you give to someone who wants to started their own business or brand?
A. The best advice is to start. Just try.  So many times people are waiting for the right time, the right amount of money and the right feeling - which may never come. Instead just try - what’s the worst that can happen?
But if they want to create their own event - contact me!  I’m a creative curator. (smile)
Q. What’s next for Monica Byrd?
A. We look forward to creating an Affiliate Program for the new year where interested bloggers, collaborators and influencers can bring PopUp shoppers together in 2018, build their own following and have a B.A.S.H. PopUp business of their own in their city – from Colorado Springs, Colorado to Houston, Texas. The #BASHPopUp season starts March through December yearly – and held once a month on the same dates in various cities.
Additionally we have carved out signature  ‘Haute Experience’ events – roundtable of Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle bloggers and brands – to connect fashion, beauty and lifestyle bloggers, vloggers and enthusiasts to network, to have open discussions and shared experiences.
Plus we are creating a curated experience workshop for brands that want to learn how to create their own PopUp experience!
